Job summary

Farrell Roofing is seeking a hands-on field staff member to help keep roofs watertight and projects on schedule in the New York area. You will operate and maintain equipment and apply roofing materials while upholding safety and quality standards.

The role requires on-site, physically demanding work with a focus on teamwork, accuracy, and meeting deadlines. Training is provided, and wages reflect experience and performance.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains equipment.
• Removes snow, water, or debris from roofs prior to applying roofing materials.
• Insulates, soundproofs, and seals buildings with foam, using spray gun, air compressor, and heater.
• Applies gravel or pebbles over top layer, using rake or stiff‑bristled broom.
• Overlaps successive layers of roofing material, determining distance of overlap, using chalk line.
• Cuts strips of flashing and fits them into angles formed by walls, vents, and intersecting roof surfaces.
• Mops or pours hot asphalt or tar onto roof base when applying asphalt or tar and gravel to roof.
• Aligns roofing material with edge of roof.
• Erects and checks stair towers, scaffolding, and ladders.
• Repairs roofs by removing old covering, replacing with waterproofing materials, and blending with remaining roof covering.
• Unstops roof drains and clogged pipes.

Wage Scale

Hourly Wage Range: $18.98-$34.50, depending upon experience.
