Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Rolling Stock Engineer with 2–5 years of experience to support planning, design, procurement, testing, and delivery of rail and transit projects across North America.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with clients, track, systems, operations, and maintenance engineers while contributing to technical analyses, reviews, and lifecycle assessments. Hybrid in-office model with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 2–5 years in rolling stock or rail transportation engineering.
• Knowledge of rail vehicle systems and subsystems.
• Experience reviewing technical drawings and reports.
• Strong communication and collaboration in multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for meetings and site visits.

Responsibilities

• Support design, specification, procurement, and implementation of rolling stock systems for rail projects.
• Participate in vehicle evaluations, reviews, fleet planning studies, and analyses.
• Review rolling stock designs and documentation for compliance.
• Assist with vehicle testing, commissioning, acceptance, and system integration.
• Coordinate with track, systems, operations, maintenance, and infrastructure engineers.
• Support clients via technical assessments, design reviews, risk evaluations, lifecycle analysis.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, presentations, and engineering documents.
• Participate in client meetings, workshops, and project coordination.
