The role supports back‑office, warehousing, and fulfillment operations for Macmillan U.S. and serves as the primary distribution center for North America.
The operator is responsible for managing all rolling equipment—forklifts, Pacer, turrets, order pickers, walkie/riders—and moving, picking, and stacking products at elevations of up to 35 feet while wearing a safety harness. The role includes unloading trucks, staging inventory, initiating bills of lading, and ensuring accurate documentation and labeling for inbound and outbound shipments.
Key duties: 1) Operate equipment such as pacer, turret truck, order picker, walkie/rider, and pallet jack; 2) unload incoming freight and load outbound trucks; 3) place orders in assigned ship locations; 4) stretch wrap and weigh pallets; 5) use WMS and scanners for picking and packing; 6) maintain a clean work area and uphold safety procedures; 7) perform duties such as cycle counting and record-keeping.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Computer skills: Basic knowledge of PCs, keyboarding, and working knowledge of a WMS system.
Mechanical proficiency: Ability to operate turret truck, order picker, pacer, forklift, reach truck, walkie/rider, pallet jack, and work at elevations of 35 feet wearing a safety harness.
Physical: Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; stand, walk, climb, and work at 35‑foot elevations while wearing PPE.
Language: Ability to read, comprehend simple instructions, correspondences, and memos; write legibly and present information to employees individually or in small groups.
Mathematical: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning: Apply common sense to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions and handle standard situations with occasional variables.
Other: Conduct duties safely, meet quality standards, and follow all safety, environmental, and company policies.
