Job summary

Macmillan Learning's MPS division in Gordonsville is seeking a Receiving Specialist to operate ground level equipment (Pacer/Walkie Rider) and oversee systemic inventory receipts. Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification to operate Pacer and Walkie Rider required.
  • Forklift certification is required.
  • Basic keyboarding and computer skills.
  • Ability to read simple instructions and enter data accurately into systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Pacer/Walkie Rider to move inventory; certification required.
  • Verify receipt of documentation, labeling, packaging, and quantities.
  • Enter data into the MRP system for inventory receipt processing.
  • Identify and report inventory variances and damage.
  • Support Cubi-Scan and Pallet Stripping functions as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety inspections; may work at other locations as assigned.

Job description

MPS, a division of Macmillan Publishers, a leading US publisher of Trade and Academic titles, has a job opening for a Receiving Specialist in our Gordonsville facility. MPS provides back office support, warehousing, and, fulfillment for Macmillan US, and is their primary distribution facility for North America.

Purpose of the Role: Employee must operate ground level equipment including the Pacer and Walkie/Rider. In addition this employee will be responsible for the systemic receipts of inventories with other duties as assigned.

Key responsibilities/tasks
  • Utilize Pacer and/or Walkie Riders to move inventories (stack, load, unload, pallets as needed). Certification on this equipment will be required
  • Verification receipt of appropriate documentation, labeling, packaging, and product quantities.
  • Accurately enter data into the MRP system to process receipt of inventories. Attention to detail will be critical to ensure the accurate identification, labelling, qty's as compared to the BOL details.
  • Identify, document and report inventory variances and damage.
  • Support Cubi-Scan and Pallet Stripping functions as needed. (Height - Weight - Length - Weight)
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area - this includes cleaning/maintaining equipment and work areas and performing safety inspection of areas.
  • Required to work in other areas and other locations as assigned based on workload.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Certifications: Rolling Equipment Operator (Pacer, Walkie Rider)

Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondences, and memos. Ability to write legibly and effectively present information one-on-one and to employees and management.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions, and to deal with standardized structure with only occasional or no variables.

Other skills and abilities:
Computer skills to include basic knowledge of PCs and keyboarding and a working knowledge of our MPS system.

Hourly Rate: $18.8500 to $23.0500

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Hours of work: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., with mandatory overtime as needed.
