Job Summary

This position is responsible for processing all release of information requests accurately and efficiently, ensuring privacy and compliance with HIPAA regulations and company policies.

Essential Functions

1. Complete release of information requests, including retrieving, scanning, and transmitting medical records as per procedures and standards.
2. Date stamp requests and highlight pertinent data for processing.
3. Validate requests and authorizations for release of medical information.
4. Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and proper invoicing.
5. Maintain equipment in good condition.
6. Provide excellent customer service, ensuring understanding and follow-through on requests.
7. Handle incoming requests via mail, phone, or fax as needed.
8. Maintain a professional appearance and a clean workspace.
9. Stay informed about relevant laws and fee structures.
10. Follow policies and procedures, including HIPAA and other regulations.
11. Maintain confidentiality and security of information.
12. Work diligently with privileged information, ensuring efficient and accurate record releases.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (GED) required.
• At least 2 years of experience in a medical records setting preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Typing speed of 50 wpm.
• Ability to operate fax, copier, and scanning equipment.
• Willingness to learn new tools and processes quickly.
