Job Summary

This position is responsible for processing all release of information requests in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service. The associate must safeguard and protect the patient's right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient's medical information and that all releases of information comply with requests, authorizations, company policies, and HIPAA regulations.

Essential Functions
  • Completes release of information requests, including retrieving patient charts, scanning medical records accurately, and transmitting requests according to established procedures.
  • Date stamps all requests and highlights pertinent data to facilitate processing.
  • Validates requests and authorizations for release of medical information.
  • Performs quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and proper invoicing.
  • Maintains equipment in excellent condition.
  • Provides excellent customer service, being attentive, respectful, and proactive in addressing client concerns.
  • Handles incoming requests via mail, phone, or fax as needed.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and a clean work environment.
  • Stays informed about state laws and fee structures.
  • Works within scope, accepts additional assignments, and assists during backlogs.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations, including HIPAA and federal laws.
  • Maintains confidentiality and ethical standards with all information.
  • Releases medical records efficiently, accurately, and conscientiously.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma (GED) required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a medical records or similar setting preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Typing speed of 50 WPM.
  • Ability to operate fax, copier, and scanning equipment.
  • Willingness to learn new equipment and processes quickly.
  • Self-motivated, team player, with proven customer satisfaction skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Internet speed of at least 5 Mbps.
