Job summary

LJA Surveying is seeking a Rodman to transport and set up surveying instruments and equipment, preparing sites for fieldwork and elevations. The role requires basic physical work and the ability to assist survey crews on varying terrains.

The position emphasizes teamwork with a strong emphasis on safety, excellent communication, and the willingness to travel to project sites as needed. This is a full-time, on-site role with opportunities for growth within our ESOP-owned firm.

Qualifications

• HS Graduate or GED required.
• Strong communication skills both oral and written.
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients.
• Must be able to lift 25lbs.

Responsibilities

• Transport and set up surveying instruments and equipment.
• Prepare job site for survey.
• Clear brush or trees from survey line.
• Lay out stakes to prepare for elevation measurements.
• Hold prism pole steady for the surveyor to help determine elevations.
• Measure horizontal distances between points.
• Assist with survey equipment.
• Willingness to travel.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Rodman at LJA Surveying, you will be responsible for transporting and setting up instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing job site for survey

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE

• Party Chief gives direction for this position
• Transport and set up instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing job site for survey
• Clear brush or trees away from survey line
• Lays out stakes to prepare for elevation measurements
• Holding prism pole steady for the surveyor to help determine elevations of different points
• Measures how far different points are from each other Horizontally
• Helps with various pieces of survey equipment
• willingness to travel

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

• HS Graduate or GED
