Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to prepare engine test hardware, develop work instructions, and oversee build and test processes across fabrication, assembly, and integration. You will work with suppliers to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery while improving quality and reducing costs, with a focus on safe, repeatable spaceflight hardware.

The role is based in Van Horn, TX, with a second-shift requirement and potential extended hours.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 0-3 years of relevant work experience in manufacturing and/or test environment.
  • Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed.
  • Can demonstrate creating English work instructions for technicians and inspectors; solid understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience in hardware manufacturing (cleaning, NDT, tight tolerance assembly, leak testing, FAT, MES/Software).
  • Proven experience completing testing/manufacturing projects.
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate clearly at all levels and contribute to inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing work instructions covering receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment.
  • Manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule across testing and final configuration build.
  • Review engineering drawings and test plans; approve manufacturing procedures.
  • Develop process controls and evaluate via statistical analysis.
  • Define and support repair/rework with hardware nonconformance.
  • Perform root cause analyses and deploy corrective actions.
  • Design, procure, install, and integrate manufacturing equipment/tools.
  • Interface with internal suppliers to ensure proper manufacture and delivery.
  • Design material handling and packaging to protect hardware.
  • Champion tooling, ergonomics, safety, and quality improvements.
  • Streamline data collection for testing and validation.
  • Maintain hardware configuration and pedigree throughout build/test.
  • Troubleshoot issues with cross-functional teammates.
