Job summary

Blue Origin, based in Huntsville, AL, is hiring manufacturing engineers to design, develop, and implement rocket engine manufacturing processes. You will translate engineering intent into detailed work instructions for receiving, fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment, while managing cost, quality and schedule.

We seek candidates with a BS in mechanical/mfg/aerospace engineering and 3+ years on high-rate aerospace/auto assembly lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 3+ years direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
• Experience on high-rate aerospace/automotive assembly lines preferred.
• Understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing fundamentals including GD&T.
• Proficient in CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; capable of writing clear work instructions.
• Ability to develop processes compliant with AS9100 quality systems.
• Willing to work weekends and move shifts when required; extended hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Define, develop, implement, and own rocket engine assembly, integration, and test processes.
• Translate engineering intent into manufacturing work instructions covering receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment.
• Manage build sequence, cost, quality, and schedule throughout manufacturing.
• Conduct DFMA and PFMEA studies to strengthen design-build feedback.
• Root-cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances.
• Create/maintain BOMs, routings, and work instructions for engine assemblies.
• Develop/modify work instructions to disposition non-conformances quickly.
• Utilize lean manufacturing methods for process development and problem solving.
• Design, procure, install, and qualify manufacturing equipment/fixtures.
• Troubleshoot and operate equipment as required.
• Travel ~10% for training and support services.
• Collaborate with internal customers to define requirements and align tools.
