Job summary

EDP Renewables is seeking a ROCC Operator to direct, monitor, and coordinate the operation of wind assets from the Remote Operations Control Center in the United States. The role ensures compliance with NERC standards and requires independence with guidance only on complex situations.

Responsibilities include real-time monitoring, outage reporting to RTO/ISO, and strategies to maximize WPP value in power markets, with a need to obtain ROCC certification within 9 months and PJM certification

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 3+ years in power system operations or related energy operations
• Willing to obtain EDPR NA ROCC Operator certification within 9 months
• Willing to obtain PJM System Operator certification within 12 months
• Proficient in AC theory, power flow, MS Office, OSI PI, and database management

Responsibilities

• Monitor real-time control center operations across the US to guarantee availability and energy sales
• Document outages to RTO/ISO and coordinate responses
• Develop strategies to maximize WPP value in real-time power markets
• Evaluate alarms and take corrective action per guidelines
• Ensure accurate real-time generation data is telemetered to RTO/ISO
• Call out field personnel for issues and outages
• Direct substation switching per company practices
• Maintain turbine/substation data for internal reporting
• Operate OEM SCADA to control real and reactive power for multiple turbine types
• Maintain understanding of energy markets and merchant pricing and scheduling
