Job summary

Matrix Design is seeking an Industrial Automation Controls Engineer to design, program, and implement control systems for automated manufacturing. You will integrate robots and motion platforms, coordinate with mechanical and software teams, and commission systems on site.

The role requires PLC and HMI development, safety knowledge, and documentation. Travel up to 40% for installation and commissioning; the posted salary range is an estimate and offers will reflect skills and certifications.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
5+ years leading controls engineering in automation and robotics.
Experience delivering PLC, HMI, and robotic systems from concept to commissioning.
Knowledge of safety standards and risk assessments (ANSI, NFPA, ISO).
PE license or vendor certifications (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) a plus.

Responsibilities

Design, program, and implement control systems for automated manufacturing.
Integrate industrial robots and motion platforms into custom solutions.
Partner with mechanical, electrical, robot programming, and software teams to meet targets.
Commission systems on site; troubleshoot and debug controls during build and startup.
Create and maintain detailed documentation and change logs.
