Job summary

Alexander Technology Group seeks an experienced Engineering Technician (Mechanical Systems) to join our Bedford, MA team. This temporary, per-hour role focuses on building, testing and supporting complex robotic/mechanical systems in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will troubleshoot, interpret drawings and CAD models, and contribute to prototypes, validations, and continuous improvement of assembly methods and documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience as an engineering technician in robotics/industrial automation.
• Experience assembling and troubleshooting precision mechanical systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD, GD&T, and specs.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment: calipers, micrometers, indicators, torque tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience supporting prototype development and validation activities.
• Ability to organize work independently while managing multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Build, assemble, integrate, and test robotic/mechanical systems from drawings and CAD models.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, and software engineers during development.
• Support prototype builds, engineering changes, and design verification testing.
• Recommend design and process improvements to enhance quality.
• Develop and maintain assembly procedures and work instructions.
• Ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and to quality standards.
• Maintain organized workspace, tools, fixtures, and test equipment.
• Assist with failure investigations, reliability testing, and field issues.
