Job summary

1X Technologies in San Carlos, CA is seeking a Hardware Test Engineer to build and own tests for NEO hands, developing test software, stations, and procedures to characterize hand actuators and sensors on the production line.

You will turn raw logs into actionable root-cause insights, maintain test PCs, and design fixtures for high-cycle actuators, collaborating across hardware, firmware, and software teams to ensure quality and scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in hardware test, validation, or manufacturing test engineering.
• Experience writing software for test and test automation, including pass/fail scripts, data logging, and plotting.
• Strong electromechanical fundamentals: motors, encoders, gearing, and related hardware.

Responsibilities

• Build automated pass/fail test scripts that log data and generate plots to characterize hand actuators, encoders, and sensors.
• Own and maintain test PCs and production stations, keeping them healthy and running validated software.
• Turn failures into root-cause summaries by analyzing logs and waveform data to drive design and process improvements.
• Develop repeatable test procedures and fixtures that technicians can run safely on live production equipment.
• Collaborate across hardware, firmware, and software teams to ensure proper test coverage and scalability.
