Job summary

Amazon is seeking a System Development Engineer to design and implement embedded industrial software and control systems for our global fulfillment network. You will develop mechatronic software, optimize real-time control, and collaborate with internal R&D teams and partner automation suppliers.

This startup‑like team leverages enterprise scale, requiring hands‑on ownership, CI/CD practices, and travel for on‑site testing.

Qualifications

4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
Experience programming with modern languages such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust.
2+ years of embedded software development experience.
Experience deploying and supporting mechatronic systems.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain control software applications for mechatronic systems using modern software development practices, including CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
Implement automated testing frameworks and deployment strategies to ensure code quality, reliability, and seamless integration of control systems software.
Develop and optimize motion control algorithms, embedded programs, and real-time control systems for industrial automation.
Drive operational excellence through monitoring, analysis, and continuous improvement of software performance metrics and system reliability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvements, and troubleshoot issues with mechatronic systems.
25% travel expected to support onsite system testing.
