Job summary

Amazon is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer specializing in controls and embedded software to join our robotics team developing advanced workcell automation solutions. You will design, develop, and deploy real-time control systems for robotic workcells, coordinating with embedded systems, motion control, and distributed software architecture.

Qualifications

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of design or architecture experience for large-scale systems.
2+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
4+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, embedded or distributed software.
2+ years of Object Oriented Design.
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
Experience programming with at least one programming language.
Knowledge of full SDLC, coding standards, code reviews, source control, CI, testing, and operational excellence.
Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.

Responsibilities

Design and implement real-time embedded control software for robotic workcells, including motion controllers, trajectory planners, and sensor integration modules.
Develop architectures balancing real-time performance with maintainability and extensibility.
Own development of control algorithms within the Workcell Controls Architecture and integrate with the TCC orchestration layer.
Partner with hardware teams to define control interfaces, implement device drivers, and optimize performance for PLCs, industrial PCs, and RTOS.
Lead technical design reviews and drive architecture decisions affecting scalability and reliability.
Mentor team members on embedded systems, real-time programming techniques, and controls engineering principles.
Participate in on-call rotations to support production systems and drive root cause analysis.
