Job summary

Simbe Robotics is seeking a Robotics Deployment & Support Engineer in the United States to own the full deployment lifecycle for new retail locations—from installation to digital onboarding and early operational health.

This contract role with an anticipated end date in February 2027 offers autonomy across multiple deployments and opportunities to build tooling for faster, more reliable deployments at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical operations, deployment, or field support in robotics, retail technology, IoT, or similar
• Strong troubleshooting across network, software, and hardware
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent deployments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated experience using scripting (Python, bash, or similar) or automation tools to reduce manual work
• Proficiency with Linux-based systems and basic networking (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, VPN)
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate investigation, analysis, or workflow automation
• Strong written and verbal communication for coordinating remote field teams and stakeholders
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Opsgenie)
• Availability to work a weekend-inclusive schedule, ideally Friday–Tuesday or Thursday–Monday, to support weekend deployments

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Deployment Ownership: Manage the full deployment lifecycle for assigned retail locations, including pre-deployment verification, installation coordination, network configuration, digital setup, and handoff to operations.
• Pre-Deployment Preparation: Confirm all site requirements and hardware readiness, identify blockers to protect timelines.
• Physical Deployment Coordination: Guide remote contractors through installation, provide timely support, ensure procedures are followed.
• Digital Configuration and Onboarding: Configure robots for new sites, setup traversal patterns, schedules, and map routes; validate performance against quality thresholds.
• Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve issues across network, hardware, and software; document root causes.
• Automation and Tooling: Build scripts and lightweight tools to reduce manual effort; leverage AI tooling where applicable.
• Quality Assurance: Develop QA checks for readiness and early performance; detect deployment failure patterns and build safeguards.
• Documentation and Knowledge Management: Maintain deployment records in Jira/Confluence; contribute to playbooks and procedures.
