Job summary

Symbotic is hiring an Intern- Robot Perception in Wilmington, MA for Summer 2027. You will work with a Robot Perception team on perception, SLAM, and computer vision projects, exploring traditional and deep learning methods.

You will prototype and benchmark vision systems, deploy software to robot hardware, and document findings while collaborating across cross-functional teams. This internship emphasizes hands-on learning, mentorship, and career growth.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Master’s or PhD in CS, robotics, electrical engineering, ML, or related field.
• Proficiency in Python and/or C++, with notebook experience.
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Familiarity with OpenCV for perception tasks.
• Exposure to sensor fusion, SLAM and 3D pose concepts.
• Experience in Linux and command-line tools.

Responsibilities

• Research and prototype vision and perception algorithms.
• Evaluate methods on production data and benchmark performance.
• Deploy software to robot hardware in production.
• Design data preprocessing and postprocessing pipelines.
• Document designs, code, experiments and results.
• Explore AI planning to optimize robotics software.
• Simulate multi-robot scenarios and validate performance.
• Present results to internal teams and at conferences.
