Job summary

Symbotic is offering a Summer 2027 Internship/Co-op with the Robot Perception team, inviting master's or PhD candidates to contribute to perception and computer vision projects on production robotics software. You'll work on scoping projects from literature review to deployment, in a mentorship-driven, fast-moving environment.

You'll gain hands-on experience with Python and C++, PyTorch or TensorFlow, OpenCV, ROS/ROS 2, and sensor data processing, with opportunities to present results internally

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python and/or C++, including writing code and Jupyter notebooks.
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Familiarity with OpenCV and perception tools (classification, detection, segmentation).

Responsibilities

• Research and experiment with computer vision methods and deep learning for object detection and pose estimation.
• Evaluate methods on production data and deploy software to robot hardware.
• Design data preprocessing and post-processing pipelines.
• Document designs, experiments, and results.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and present results.
• Explore AI planning and ML for multi-robot scenarios.
