Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a Team Member to operate locomotive/trackmobile and manage rail car movements at our facility in Roaring River, NC. You will follow established procedures, move and couple rail cars, monitor track conditions, and document ingredient data.

Responsibilities

  • Operate locomotive/trackmobile to move rail cars following procedures.
  • Coordinate switching cars, coupling railcars, and clearances.
  • Handle switches and hand brakes per programs.
  • Monitor track conditions and report irregularities.
  • Record data/Dispatch accurately.
  • Operate scales and document ingredients via ticketing system.
  • Unload feed ingredients and route to storage silo.
  • Obtain and run quality analyses on ingredients.
  • Lift and use hand tools to aid unloading.
  • Perform minor maintenance with hand tools.
  • Work in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
  • Work holidays, weekends, and flexible hours as needed.
  • Work in elevated areas and follow safety procedures.
  • Sign and abide by Biosecurity Guidelines including avoiding avian species.
  • Maintain housekeeping of areas and grounds.
  • Communicate with Operations, Customers and Vendors as required.
  • Follow Tyson Health and Safety protocols.
  • Lift up to 60 lbs. and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Stand, sit, walk, climb stairs with sustained activity.
  • Complete other tasks assigned by management.

Job Details

Pay is $18.20 per hour PLUS an additional $2.00 per hour shift differential. Schedule: Friday through Monday 2PM to 9PM. Weekend (6 & 7 Day) work required, as needed. Must be able to understand labels, read recipes, follow instructions, and communicate effectively. Must have 6 months work history in the last 12 months documented within your application’s work history and/or resume. Can be a combination of employers as long as it is within the past 12 months or your application will not be reviewed. *CANDIDATES THAT HAVE WORKED FOR TYSON FOODS OR TYSON AFFILIATES 3 OR MORE TIMES WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR REHIRE. *REHIRES ARE SUBJECT TO A 91 DAY WAIT PERIOD. MUST PERFORM OTHER DUTIES AS TASKED BY ADMINISTRATION.

Team Member Responsibilities
  1. Ability to operate a locomotive/trackmobile to move rail cars by following established procedures and/or specifications. Work and perform all the functions of the Control Room Panel -Batching operator.
  2. Ability to coordinate activities such as switching cars from one track to another, coupling railcars together, and/or clearances.
  3. Ability to handle switches and hand brakes in accordance with company programs.
  4. Ability to walk the length of the track to monitor track conditions and report any irregularities to management.
  5. Ability to accurately record data/Dispatch
  6. Ability be able to operate scales and document incoming ingredients through the ticketing system
  7. Ability to operate equipment to unload feed ingredients and route to appropriate storage silo
  8. Ability to obtain and run quality analysis on required incoming ingredients
  9. Ability to lift and use hand tools to assist in unloading of ingredients
  10. Ability to perform minor maintenance duties using hand tools
  11. Ability to work in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments. Heavy exposure to ingredient dust and inclement weather.
  12. Ability to work holidays, weekends, and flexible hours as required based on demand scheduling
  13. Ability to work in elevated areas and follow all safety procedures
  14. Able to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity Guidelines including an agreement to avoid any avian species
  15. Maintain good housekeeping including service areas and grounds keeping.
  16. Communicate to all levels of Operations including Customers and Vendors both orally and in writing where required
  17. Follow and Operate within all Tyson Health and Safety protocols
  18. Able to Lift up to 60 lbs. and/or up to 100 lbs with assistance
  19. Stand, Sit, Walk, Climb Ladder/Stairs with the ability to sustain physical activity throughout the day.
  20. Complete all other tasks assigned by management.
