Job summary

Tyson Foods is hiring for a 2nd shift position in Roaring River, North Carolina. Pay is $18.20 per hour plus an additional $2.00 per hour shift differential, with hours Tue–Fri 2:00 PM–9:00 PM. Candidates must be able to perform physical work, read labels, and follow instructions.

Applicants should have at least 6 months of work history in the last year and be able to operate equipment per safety procedures. Rehire rules and training requirements apply as outlined.

Responsibilities

• Operate a locomotive/trackmobile to move rail cars per procedures.
• Coordinate switching cars and coupling/clearing railcars.
• Handle switches and hand brakes per company programs.
• Walk track to monitor conditions and report irregularities.
• Record data/Dispatch accurately.
• Operate scales and document incoming ingredients via ticketing system.
• Unload feed ingredients and route to storage silo.
• Obtain and run quality analysis on incoming ingredients.
• Lift and use hand tools to assist unloading.
• Perform minor maintenance with hand tools.
• Work in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments; exposure to dust.
• Work holidays, weekends, and flexible hours as required.
• Follow Tyson Health and Safety protocols.
• Sign and abide by Biosecurity guidelines avoiding avian species.
• Maintain good housekeeping and communicate with Operations.

Pay is $18.20 per hour PLUS an additional $2.00 per hour shift differential. Shift: 2nd Schedule: Tuesday Thru Friday: 2:00PM to 9:00PM.

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

CANDIDATES THAT HAVE WORKED FOR TYSON FOODS OR TYSON AFFILIATES 3 OR MORE TIMES WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR REHIRE. REHIRES ARE SUBJECT TO A 91 DAY WAIT PERIOD.

MUST PERFORM OTHER DUTIES AS TASKED BY ADMINISTRATION.

• Ability to operate a locomotive/trackmobile to move rail cars by following established procedures and/or specifications. Work and perform all the functions of the Control Room Panel -Batching operator.
• Ability to coordinate activities such as switching cars from one track to another, coupling railcars together, and/or clearances.
• Ability to handle switches and hand brakes in accordance with company programs.
• Ability to walk the length of the track to monitor track conditions and report any irregularities to management.
• Ability to accurately record data/Dispatch
• Ability be able to operate scales and document incoming ingredients through the ticketing system
• Ability to operate equipment to unload feed ingredients and route to appropriate storage silo
• Ability to obtain and run quality analysis on required incoming ingredients
• Ability to lift and use hand tools to assist in unloading of ingredients
• Ability to perform minor maintenance duties using hand tools
• Ability to work in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments. Heavy exposure to ingredient dust and inclement weather.
• Ability to work holidays, weekends, and flexible hours as required based on demand scheduling
• Ability to work in elevated areas and follow all safety procedures
• Able to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity Guidelines including an agreement to avoid any avian species
• Maintain good housekeeping including service areas and grounds keeping.
• Communicate to all levels of Operations including Customers and Vendors both orally and in writing where required
• Follow and Operate within all Tyson Health and Safety protocols
• Able to Lift up to 60 lbs. and/or up to 100 lbs with assistance
• Stand, Sit, Walk, Climb Ladder/Stairs with the ability to sustain physical activity throughout the day.
• Complete all other tasks assigned by management.
