Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the Department of Transportation is seeking a Welder to support road safety through welding and fabrication of transportation equipment. You will prepare metals, perform arc, acetylene, and MIG welding, and fabricate or repair components for a variety of transportation applications.

The role requires hands-on welding expertise and adherence to safety practices. Schedule is seasonal, full-time, with hours from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday, and overtime may be

Qualifications

• Three years of welding experience or completion of a three-year, high school Vo-Tech welding program with eighteen months of related shop experience.
• Completion of an approved welder apprentice program.
• A welding certificate D1.1 from the American Welding Society; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and clean metals for welding and layout materials for accurate cuts and fits.
• Perform structural and equipment welding using arc welding, acetylene welding, and MIG welding.
• Fabricate repair parts and equipment modifications for a variety of applications.
• Repair frames, plow components, trailer parts, and similar transportation equipment.
• Operate power tools and air tools safely to support welding and fabrication tasks.
• Maintain a safe workspace and follow proper safety procedures during all duties.
