Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, through PennDOT, seeks a skilled Welder to perform welding and fabrication on transportation equipment. You will weld, cut, repair and fabricate parts, including plow frames and related components, while maintaining safety and quality in a full-time shop setting.

Responsibilities include operating tools safely, performing mechanical tasks, and supporting equipment modification.

Qualifications

Three years of experience operating welding equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment or structures.
Completion of a three-year Vo-Tech welding program with eighteen months of related shop experience.
An approved welder apprentice program or AWS D1.1 certificate accepted.
Equivalent combination of experience and training allowed.

Responsibilities

Welding, brazing, soldering, and cutting on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Repair department machinery including plow frames, blades, spreaders and related components.
Fabricate replacement or custom parts to support equipment modification and repair needs.
Operate power tools, air tools, and motorized equipment safely during welding and fabrication tasks.
Perform minor mechanical work such as mounting and removing plow frames and chemical tanks.
Maintain a clean and safe work area while following environmental and safety practices.
