Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, PennDOT, is seeking a Welder Intern in Montgomery County to learn welding and fabrication skills under skilled staff guidance. You will assist with repairs to parts, frames, and equipment and follow safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• You must be at least 16 years old at time of hire.
• You must be a junior or senior enrolled in high school during the 2026-2027 school year.

Responsibilities

• Use grinders, saws, torches, and metal prep tools to support welding tasks.
• Learn welding techniques including MIG, TIG, Arc, and oxy-acetylene procedures.
• Assist with repairing parts, frames, and equipment components.
• Follow PPE rules, SEM Policy guidelines, and maintain awareness of surroundings.
• Read mechanical drawings to understand repair and fabrication needs.
• Maintain clean work areas, complete time sheets, and communicate with supervisors.
