Job summary

H&H is seeking a motivated Roadway/Transportation Designer to join our Highway Group in Portland, Maine. You will work on a variety of transportation projects, developing conceptual alternatives and final plans alongside experienced professionals.

The role involves using MicroStation, AutoCAD and related software to create design plans, traffic control, and ADA-compliant facilities. A BSCE and up to five years of civil engineering experience are desirable; EIT and internships are preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
Zero to five years of civil engineering experience.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and internship experience preferred.
Experience with Bentley CONNECT Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong mathematical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

Assist in design and development of conceptual and final highway, roadway, interchange, and drainage plans.
Assist in design and production of traffic control and staging plans, and traffic signing/striping plans.
Perform geometric design and plan development using CAD software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, InRoads, AutoTurn, GuideSign).
Assist in designing ADA-compliant facilities including sidewalks and shared-use paths.
