Job summary

H&H is seeking a motivated Roadway/Transportation Designer to join our Highway Group in Portland, Maine. You will work on a variety of transportation projects, developing conceptual alternatives and final plans alongside experienced professionals.

The role involves using MicroStation, AutoCAD and related software to create design plans, traffic control, and ADA-compliant facilities. A BSCE and up to five years of civil engineering experience are desirable; EIT and internships are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
• Zero to five years of civil engineering experience.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and internship experience preferred.
• Experience with Bentley CONNECT Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong mathematical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and development of conceptual and final highway, roadway, interchange, and drainage plans.
• Assist in design and production of traffic control and staging plans, and traffic signing/striping plans.
• Perform geometric design and plan development using CAD software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, InRoads, AutoTurn, GuideSign).
• Assist in designing ADA-compliant facilities including sidewalks and shared-use paths.
