Job summary

H&H in Portland, Maine seeks a Senior Roadway/Transportation Engineer to lead our Highway Group. You will guide multidisciplinary projects, ensure design quality, and mentor junior staff while expanding client relationships in the transportation practice.

With 15+ years of design experience and a PE license (or in progress to licensure within six months), you will apply MaineDOT standards and advance our infrastructure solutions using Bentley CONNECT Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Fifteen+ years of highway, interchange, and roadway design experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within six months.
• Familiarity with MaineDOT design standards.
• Drainage design experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Bentley CONNECT Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers on multidisciplinary transportation projects.
• Provide QA/QC for designs and ensure technical quality.
• Produce roadway designs for new and rehabilitation projects.
• Lead client meetings, proposals, and regulatory coordination.
• Communicate effectively with the design team.
• Mentor staff and manage small design groups and projects.
• Oversee construction support and review RFIs/submittals.
• Assist with business development and proposals.
• Apply MaineDOT policies and design standards.
• Assist with project scheduling and financial management.
