Job summary

H&H in Bedford, New Hampshire, is seeking a motivated Roadway/Transportation Designer to join our Highway Group. You will assist with roadway and transportation design on a variety of projects, collaborating with experienced professionals in a full-service infrastructure firm.

The role offers exposure to design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, InRoads, AutoTurn, and GuideSign, and requires a BSCE with 0–5 years of related experience; EIT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• BSCE required for consideration.
• EIT certification preferred; internship accepted.
• 0–5 years civil engineering experience requested.
• Experience with Bentley CONNECT Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and development of highway, roadway, interchange, and drainage projects.
• Assist in design and production of traffic control, staging, signing, and striping plans.
• Perform geometric design and plan development using CAD software.
• Assist in ADA-compliant facility design including sidewalks and curb ramps.

This position offers an opportunity to develop technical skills while contributing to a variety of transportation projects. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced professionals and assist with roadway and transportation design.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of conceptual alternatives and final design plans for highway, roadway, interchange, and drainage projects
• Assist in the design and production of traffic control and staging plans, as well as traffic, signing, and striping plans
• Perform geometric design and plan development using computer-aided design software, including MicroStation, AutoCAD, InRoads, AutoTurn, and GuideSign
• Assist in the design of ADA-compliant facilities, including sidewalks, shared-use paths, and intersection curb ramps

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
• Zero to five years of civil engineering experience
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and prior internship experience preferred
• Experience with Bentley CONNECT Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a team environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong mathematical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
