Job summary

Dallas County is seeking a full-time Sher-Courtesy Patrol member in Mesquite, TX to respond to highway incidents and maintain smooth traffic flow. You will assist motorists with disabled vehicles, post warning signs during emergencies, and operate courtesy vehicles with proper maintenance logs.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 1 year in automotive maintenance or 2 years of stable work or 30 college hours, strong verbal and written communication, a Texas driver’s license, and

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED required.
• One year of automotive maintenance experience or two years of stable work, or 30 college hours in a related field.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the public and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Responds to accidents/incidents on the highway system and analyzes the situation to plan action.
• Assists motorists with disabled vehicles and removes hazards from the roadway when needed.
• Post warning signs and assist the public during emergencies, following procedures.
• Operate and maintain courtesy vehicles and keep maintenance logs.
• Observe traffic control devices and report major problems while patrolling.
• Operate tools and equipment as required and pick up litter/debris.
