Job summary

Dallas County is seeking an Automotive Mechanic to maintain, repair and overhaul county vehicles. You will analyze vehicle needs, perform maintenance, and operate shop equipment to complete tasks efficiently.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, one year of automotive repair training, and three years of repair experience or 45 college hours. A valid Class B Texas driver’s license and good driving record are required. Must pass a drug test and comply with county policies.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school/GED.
• One year automotive repair/maintenance training.
• Three years of automotive repair experience or 45 hours of college from an accredited college or university or combination of the two.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes vehicle needs and performs necessary maintenance and repair.
• Operates shop equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks.
• Performs scheduled maintenance service such as oil changes and tune-ups.
• Maintains records of parts replaced, repair work completed and routine maintenance performed.
• Assists with compressed natural gas conversions and repairs.
• Ensures work area is kept clean, safe and properly maintained.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
