Job summary

Western Rock Products, a CRH Company, is seeking a Prep crew laborer to support highway, grade, and paving crews. You will perform ground preparation, assist paving operations, and handle materials while maintaining a clean, safe job site.

You’ll follow safety procedures, read instructions, and operate basic tools. Candidates should have a GED or high school diploma and 1–2 years of related experience, with a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write correspondences and memos.
• Knowledge of Inventory and Order processing systems; uses job specific computer system for ticketing and two way radio for communications.

Responsibilities

• Ground Preparation / Road Base Work: prepare ground surfaces, remove debris, shovel and spread materials, operate hand tools and compactors.
• Paving & Grade Crew Support: rake and level material, assist with shaping roadway surfaces, signal equipment operators.
• Material Handling & Site Setup: load/unload materials, set up traffic control, keep tools and site organized.
• General Labor Duties: dig, sweep, operate small power tools, assist with minor adjustments to structures.
• Safety & Compliance: follow OSHA/MSHA safety procedures and report hazards.
