ST MARY'S COUNTY GOVERNMENT is seeking a Highway Maintenance Supervisor to oversee a crew responsible for the maintenance of public roadways in St. Mary's County.

This role requires strong supervisory skills and the ability to coordinate daily work assignments, equipment upkeep, and safety practices. The position starts at $59,114 per year with a potential up to $101,691, and is subject to DOT drug testing and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Must have a High school diploma or GED.
• Two or more years of job-related experience, including supervisory experience.
• Equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience may be considered.
• Maryland Class A Commercial Driver's License is required.
• Position is safety-sensitive and subject to drug and alcohol testing per federal regulations.
• Pre-employment DOT physical required and background check.

Responsibilities

• Develops daily highway crew work assignments.
• Maintains assigned equipment and facilities.
• Executes daily departmental objectives.
• Completes and submits necessary documentation and paperwork.
• Supervises and evaluates assigned staff.
• Responds to emergency call-out for downed trees, flooding and incident management.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
