Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a physically capable worker to assist in maintaining the state highway system. You will set up work zones, direct traffic as a flagger, and operate diverse equipment.

Qualifications

• Must be capable of performing physical labor including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• May require long hours and working in inclement weather.
• On-call emergency coverage after hours may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with placing traffic control devices to set up maintenance work zones.
• Serve as a flagger to direct traffic safely in work zones.
• Operate small equipment and perform various road maintenance tasks.
• Assist with installation/repair of traffic signs and pavement markings.
• Perform vegetation management and litter/debris removal.
