Job summary

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) seeks a Highway Maintenance Technician for the Muddy Gap Maintenance Crew in Central Wyoming. The role supports safe transportation through district-wide maintenance and repair, with a focus on equipment operation and road upkeep.

Qualifications include 2–4 years in highway maintenance, ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months, and an engineering-focused Associate’s degree or related certifications.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of progressive work experience in Highway Maintenance/Highway Construction at the level of a Highway Maintenance Assistant.
• Ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License within 12 months of hire.
• Associate's Degree (Engineering) preferred; Water/Waste Water Certifications beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain complex equipment safely and proficiently; provide work direction to Highway Maintenance Assistant employees.
• Flag traffic and set up traffic control devices under limited supervision.
• Operate trucks and equipment to remove snow and ice from roadways; rehabilitate road surfaces and traffic control devices.
• Maintain equipment and facilities in rest areas, including water and wastewater systems.
• Complete required training to obtain/maintain certifications and learn new skills.
