Job summary

Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) seeks a Highway Maintenance Technician to join the Jackson, Wyoming team. This role performs maintenance on highways, operates heavy equipment, and assists with snow and ice removal, traffic control, and repairs under limited supervision.

A CDL is required within 12 months, with potential training and certifications provided. Join a dedicated public service team in a mountain community known for outdoor recreation.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of relative work experience in Highway Maintenance/Highway Construction
• Ability to obtain Class A CDL within 12 months of hire
• Experience with operating and maintaining highway maintenance equipment is a plus

Responsibilities

• Maintains and operates complex equipment safely and proficiently
• Assists with training other technicians in operation and maintenance of equipment
• Flag traffic and set up traffic control devices under limited supervision
• Operates heavy equipment (trucks with augers, aerial lifts, plows, wing plows, sanders, chemical systems) to remove snow and ice
• Rehabilitates roadway surfaces and traffic control devices such as signs and pavement markings
• Performs maintenance of highway facilities and may assist with water treatment per EPA/DEQ requirements
• Follows safety and quality standards and uses PPE appropriately
