Job summary

Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is seeking a Highway Maintenance Technician II in the Miami area. The role involves operating a variety of vehicles and mechanized equipment, performing inspections, and maintaining roadways and bridges as part of the South Dade Maintenance team.

Candidates must obtain CDL-related credentials and will work full-time, with a salary range of $36,017.39 to $46,610.74 annually.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of typical construction measuring tools, equipment, or instruments and standard safety techniques.
• Skills in operating a variety of hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and understand job-related materials and fill out reports and forms; maintain and repair highways, bridges and/or other highway structures.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of vehicles and mechanized equipment (e.g., backhoe, tractors with attachments, dump trucks) and perform pre-trip inspections.
• Use hand, pneumatic, and electrical tools to maintain bridges and roadways; perform manual labor as required.
• Perform rough carpentry, masonry, painting, and assist in erection of highway signs.
• Perform Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic).
