Qualifications

• High school graduate.
• Two years of construction or highway maintenance experience.
• Associate degree in engineering technology or related field substitutes for two years of experience.
• Must be 18 years of age and hold a valid driver's license and Class B CDL.
• Must complete KYTC Highway Technician Academy Level 1 within one year.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate intermediate equipment.
• Operate dump trucks with snow plow and salt spreader in winter.
• Operate intermediate equipment such as asphalt distributors, backhoes, loaders, mixers, rollers, and other road construction equipment.
• Install drainage structures and flag for traffic control.
• Serve as quality assurance inspector for pipe laying, earthwork, asphalt laying, and guardrail installation.
• Perform basic surveying activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
