Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is hiring Highway Maintenance Technicians I, II, or III for the Aspermont area. Positions cover a range of duties from routine highway maintenance to complex equipment operation, with wage scales shown for Tech I–Tech III.

Qualifications

• Experience levels vary by tech level: I - no experience required; II - 1 year; III - 2+ years in transportation maintenance or related work.
• Commercial driver’s license (CDL) with N endorsement required for Tech II/III; Tech I requires CDL-A within 120 days.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate heavy equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Maintain highways and rights-of-way, perform sign and barrier work, and haul materials.
• Assist with traffic control and incident response; support law enforcement at accident sites.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs on vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain project records, timekeeping, inventory, and required reports.
