Job summary

The Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Technician I or II at the Post Maintenance Office in Texas. The role covers routine roadway upkeep, traffic control, and emergency response, with opportunities to work with various equipment in field settings.

Qualifications

• TMT I – no experience required
• TMT II – 1 year experience
• Experience in transportation engineering support, roadway maintenance, construction inspection, heavy equipment operation or related work
• Substitutions for minimum qualifications allowed; education/technical training can substitute for experience

Responsibilities

• Assists in identifying, repairing and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports and posts.
• Assists with traffic control: placing cones, warning signs and barricades; flags traffic.
• Maintains highways and rights-of-way; performs roadway repairs and debris removal.
• Operates light equipment (front-end loader, roller, broom, etc.) and performs PMI inspections.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
