Job summary
The Commonwealth of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is seeking a Highway Technician Assistant I to join the Pulaski County Maintenance Facility. This full-time role involves essential roadway maintenance tasks on state highways in Pulaski County, with opportunities to work in a team-focused environment and contribute to a safe, efficient transportation network across Kentucky.
Ideal candidates will perform traffic flagging, assist with mowing and brush cutting, participate in snow/ice removal,
Qualifications
- EDUCATION: High school graduate.
- EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
- Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
- Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
- SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license; within 12 months, obtain Class B CDL; within 1 year complete First Aid and Snow/Ice Training; possess Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10 or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Perform traffic flagging operations during road maintenance and repair.
- Operate mowing tractors to mow right-of-way and assist with brush cutting.
- Participate in snow and ice removal during inclement weather.
- Operate equipment such as chain saws, weed eaters, or wood chippers.
