Job summary

The Commonwealth of Kentucky seeks a Highway Technician II to coordinate highway construction and maintenance projects in Shelbyville. You will inspect mowing and snow removal contracts, monitor equipment rental usage, and operate equipment including boom saws and pavers while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Required eight years of highway-related experience, a valid CDL, and completion of KYTC training within one year.

Qualifications

• Must have eight years of construction or highway maintenance experience.
• Substitution rules: two years for an associate's degree in engineering tech; four years for a bachelor's in engineering; other related college coursework may substitute year-for-year.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate highway construction and maintenance projects.
• Inspect mowing and snow removal contracts.
• Monitor and verify equipment rental usage by contractors.
• Operate equipment such as a boom saw, excavator, or self-propelled paver.
• Complete daily inspection reports.
