Job summary

The Commonwealth of Kentucky, Transportation Cabinet, is seeking a Highway Technician Assistant I in Paris, KY. This full-time position offers overtime eligibility and a starting hourly wage of $17.95, with duties including material hauling, operating heavy equipment, and assisting with road maintenance tasks.

Ideal candidates will possess a high school diploma and be able to obtain required licenses and certifications within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Experience working on rough terrain and in varying climates.
• Experience in equipment operation for road maintenance.
• Experience preforming preventative maintenance on vehicles or equipment.
• Experience with general labor or trades.

Responsibilities

• Haul materials to and from job sites
• Operate dump trucks with snowplow and salt spreader to work in the winter months
• Operate a tractor-type mowing machine, assist in brush cutting
• Operate equipment such as chain saws, weed eaters, or woodchippers
• Flag for operations requiring traffic control
