Job summary

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting a Maintenance Technician for the Miles City Section. The role combines laboring, leading, equipment operation, and truck driving to support highway maintenance projects across culverts, snow removal, pavement marking, and vegetation control.

The successful applicant must hold a Montana CDL Class A, Type II with a tank endorsement and MEC, and will live within 45 road miles of Miles City.

Qualifications

• Valid Montana CDL Class A, Type II with tank endorsement and MEC.
• Learner's permit holders must obtain CDL within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and heavy equipment for highway maintenance and construction tasks.
• Perform culvert placement/maintenance, landslide removal, and roadway repairs.
• Install or repair signs, guardrails, and perform bridge maintenance as needed.
• Work as laborer, lead worker, or equipment operator following MDT safety rules.
