Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Sidney to perform highway maintenance tasks as a CDL driver and equipment operator. The role involves operating various trucks and heavy equipment for culvert work, crack sealing, guardrail, and sign installation, with potential for career ladder advancement.

Applicants must hold a Montana CDL Class A Type II with tank endorsement and MEC.

Qualifications

• Valid Montana Commercial Operators License (Class A, Type II) with tank endorsement and a Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC).
• One (1) year experience driving heavy trucks or operating construction equipment for Level I/II.
• Three (3) or more years of road maintenance experience for Level III eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and heavy equipment for highway maintenance tasks.
• Perform culvert placement/cleaning, slope stabilization, sealing and pavement marking.
• Conduct snow and ice control and roadside vegetation management.
