Job summary

The City of Hutchinson is seeking a Street Maintenance Technician to perform roadway maintenance, cleaning, and related tasks using light to medium equipment. You may drive city vehicles, assist with snow and ice control, and perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment.

This entry-level role includes training in required skills and licenses, and requires strong mechanical aptitude, good communication, and reliable performance in a team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of one year experience preferred in manual/semi-skilled equipment operation.
• Must possess or be able to obtain Kansas Class B CDL with air brake endorsement within 90 days.
• Must acquire KDOT Flagger certification within one year of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Operate light to medium equipment for street maintenance and repairs.
• Perform street cleaning, snow and ice control, and debris removal.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic equipment maintenance.
• Drive city vehicles and haul materials between sites as needed.
• Follow safety standards and report maintenance and safety concerns.
