Job summary

Ohio Department of Transportation in Ottawa County seeks a Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) to support district operations. Candidates will perform flagging, patching, equipment work and seasonal snow/ice tasks while contributing to safer roadways.

Responsibilities include ongoing CDL training if needed and routine maintenance tasks, with the District 02 garage serving as the work location. Competitive pay and benefits accompany full-time hours in Ohio.

Qualifications

• Formal arithmetic education including addition & subtraction and basic English vocabulary.
• Must obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement (no airbrake restriction).
• Reading, writing and speaking common English required.

Responsibilities

• Serve the public and work to make Ohio roads safer.
• Attend training to obtain CDL licensure if not already licensed.
• Perform highway maintenance tasks: flagging, pothole patching, guardrail repair, litter pickup, mowing.
• Conduct snow and ice operations.
