Job summary

State of Ohio in Ottawa County seeks a Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) for the District 2 Garage in Oak Harbor. This role supports the safety of Ohio roadways and public service with hands-on highway maintenance tasks.

You may train to obtain a CDL if not already licensed, and perform flagging, pothole patching, guardrail repairs, litter pickup, mowing, and snow/ice operations. Overtime eligibility and OCSEA union involvement apply.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
• Must obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction
• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.

Responsibilities

• You will serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.
• You will attend training to obtain CDL licensure; if not already a licensed CDL holder.
• You will perform highway maintenance activities; including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
• You will perform snow & ice operations.
