Job summary

Richland Maintenance, a unit of the South Carolina Department of Transportation, seeks a skilled equipment operator. You will drive a tandem truck hauling asphalt, limestone, dirt, and other materials while maintaining safe work zones.

You may operate a skid steer for shoulder work, assist with ditching tasks, and coordinate traffic control in active work zones. Overtime and night shifts may be required during hazardous weather or emergencies.

Qualifications

• Six months of related work experience or equivalent.
• Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license on entry.
• CDL-A license must be obtained within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Operate a tandem truck hauling asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement and debris.
• Operate a skid steer for shoulder filling along roadways.
• Perform hand work for ditching, mailboxes and pipe work.
• Set up and coordinate traffic control devices in work zones.
• Assist during emergencies and inclement weather; may work overtime
• May require extended hours or night shifts.
