South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a maintenance technician to operate heavy equipment including tandem dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, and front-end loaders on Georgetown County roads. You will support road maintenance, drainage, and drive installations while following the Work Zone Traffic Control Manual.

Requires at least one year of related work experience and a valid driver's license; possession of a Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Qualifikationen

• One year of related work experience or equivalent.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license required at entry.
• Must obtain Class A CDL within six months of placement.
• Physical demands: lift up to 50 lbs; bending, stooping, climbing, balancing, and working near traffic.

Aufgaben

• Operates a tandem dump truck for hauling materials such as asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, and construction materials to complete DOT projects.
• Operates a loader used to maintain and install drives and drainage on primary and secondary roads in Georgetown County.
• Operates heavy equipment such as backhoe and the front-end loader used to maintain and install drives, drainage on primary and secondary roads in Georgetown County.
• Coordinates the placement of traffic control devices to properly set up a maintenance work zone according to SCDOT Work Zone Traffic Control Manual.
• Repairs pothole patching in a 2-3 men crew repairing the roads and shoulders throughout the county.
• Assists with emergency and inclement weather operations, may include extended hours and/or 12-hour shifts.
