Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a dedicated Laborer/Driver to operate dump and flatbed trucks and perform road construction tasks in Conway, SC. You will haul asphalt, limestone, dirt and other materials to job sites and assist in drainage work, curb and pipe installations.

Physical duties include lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, reaching, and exposure to traffic and weather. A CDL must be obtained within six months of placement, with required licensing and safety

Qualifications

• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Responsibilities

• Operates small equipment such as standard dump truck and flatbed trucks for hauling materials.
• Performs manual labor in building catch basins, pouring concrete, laying pipes and repairing road surfaces.
• Flags traffic during road repairs to protect workers and the public.
• Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations and may work extended hours.
