Job summary

State of Missouri’s Canton Maintenance Facility is seeking an entry-level maintenance worker to support road and facility upkeep. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision, with opportunities for career ladder advancement within MoDOT’s CAREER-LADDER openings.

This position may include an emergency operations adjustment of $3–$6 per hour during winter operations, and requires a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and CDL exam requirements to be met within 60 days

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET required.
• Passing grade on the written portion of the CDL exam is required prior to hire date.
• Must pass driving portion of CDL exam with tanker endorsement, no air brake restrictions (Class B), and interstate status within 60 days after hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain state highway systems, fill joints and cracks, patch potholes, direct traffic, set up traffic control devices.
• Repair and maintain highway facilities, signs, guardrails, curbs, and painting buildings/equipment.
• Operate vehicles and equipment to transport personnel and materials, plow snow and spread ice control materials, and mow rights of way.
• May repair bridge decks and drains, install signs, and weld/cut steel sign posts as needed.
• Work outdoors with exposure to hazards and potential overtime or night shifts.
